JOEY'S LITTLE ANGELS
Joey’s Little Angels is a non-profit organization, founded by James and Nicole Angiolino, whose mission is to provide financial aid and emotional support to families with a child going through a medical procedure. Each year, Joey’s Little Angels chooses a child to honor. In 2019, a young boy named John Hudson Dilgen was chosen as the guest of honor. John Hudson has a rare genetic disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Because of EB, John Hudson cannot enjoy the same physical activities as other children. But like many other young boys, he loves superheroes.
James Angiolino contacted Val with a brilliant idea to surprise John Hudson. She was asked to create John Hudson as his favorite DC and Marvel characters so that every time he looked at the art, he could become his own superhero.
Val accepted without hesitation and began working. Using her drawing skills along with Photoshop, Val reimagined John Hudson as Nightwing, Captain America, The Hulk, and Batman. Needless to say, he was extremely happy with the art.
